The midfielder is in some form
Barcelona midfielder Pedri has been playing a starring role this season and admits it’s been a long time since he’s felt this way after managing to stay injury-free and find his best form.
Pedri’s time at Barcelona has been interrupted by physical issues but he’s thriving right now and is loving every minute of life under Hansi Flick.
“I haven’t felt like this for a long time. I’ve often wanted to be like this and I’m enjoying it,” he admitted, citing some of the key points,” he told Barca One.
“For a player, confidence is very important and Flick transmits that to you. He trusts you so that you can do what you know how to do and the issue of injuries is a thing of the past.
“I have had that continuity and now I am enjoying it. The way of training suits me much better, we have found the key with the physios and trainers.”
Pedri is also hoping for more trophies, with Barca still in contention in three fronts at home and abroad this season.
“So this is the best campaign at Barça, along with the first, but it has to be reflected in titles. It is the one in which I feel most comfortable,” he added.
“I think the future will be good, there is a good team, personally I want to enjoy football and win titles. Playing like this we are in the right turn to win titles, we won one, the Super Cup, we are alive in all of them and why not go for them all. Lift a trophy as captain? I hope so. It is an honour to have worn the armband once before.”
“The Champions League ? Dreaming is free. In other years, we didn’t do the big games well, but now it’s the opposite. We’re winning them and sticking our chests out. Like in the League. When you lose two or three games, people get on your back... We messed things up a bit, but there are still a lot of games left and if we win everything, we’ll be champions.”
Barcelona’s next game is on Sunday against Sevilla in La Liga and comes 24 hours after the derby between leaders Real Madrid and second-placed Atletico.
