Barca sign up Inigo for another year after Vitor Roque’s exit

The deal is done
Inigo Martinez’s contract extension at Barcelona has reportedly now been finalised, with the defender set to stay for another year.
The one-year extension had hit a problem as Barcelona didn’t have enough financial fair play to register Martinez for another season.
However, that has now been resolved following Vitor Roque’s transfer to Palmeiras, according to Catalunya Radio and Mundo Deportivo.
The sale of the Brazilian has freed up enough financial fair play for Barcelona to register Martinez until the end of his new contract in the summer of 2026.
It’s a great boost as Martinez has been in great form this season and has become a regular in Hansi Flick’s starting XI.
The veteran defender has made 33 appearances in all competitions for Barca and has also scored three goals.
There’s plenty of competition for places at the back, but Martinez is going nowhere and will hope to continue to play a key role over the next 15 months or so.
