'I know he loves Barca' - Koeman talks De Jong's future

The midfielder is expected to renew his contract
Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman was asked about Frenkie de Jong’s future at Barcelona ahead of Sunday’s clash with Spain.
De Jong is said to be ready to sign a contract extension with the Catalans which could keep him at the club until 2029.
There’s been plenty of speculation about De Jong and Barcelona in recent seasons, and Koeman says all he knows is that the midfielder loves playing for the club.
“The other day he couldn’t play the entire match due to the problem he was carrying, but he’s a great player and has recovered the best possible form,” he told reporteres.
“I know he loves Barcelona, but I’m not the one to assess whether he should renew or stay with the team.”
De Jong has been back to something like his best form in 2025 and managed to regain his place in Hansi Flick’s starting XI. He’s also back in the Dutch team and will be hoping to secure a semi-final spot in the Nations League on Sunday.
