The striker is out

Barcelona have confirmed Robert Lewandowski is out of action with a hamstring injury picked up in the 4-3 win over Celta Vigo on Sunday in La Liga.

La Liga’s top goalscorer was forced off after 78 minutes of the game, with early reports suggesting he would miss a couple of weeks with a hamstring tear.

Barcelona have now offered an update after the veteran underwent further tests on the injury.

Here’s the club’s official statement:

"Tests carried out on Sunday have confirmed that first-team player Robert Lewandowski has a left semitendinosus injury. His return will be determined by his progress."

The injury comes at a really bad time for Barcelona and Lewandowski. It's thought he will be out for around three weeks and will miss some huge games, including the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid.

Hansi Flick will now have to tweak this team without Lewandowski. The obvious change would be to bring in Ferran Torres who has scored 17 goals for Barcelona this season in all competitions.
