Jean-Clair Todibo making huge strides in training, already ahead of Jeison Murillo

Todibo has made a huge impression on Valverde, according to local reports

Jean-Clair Todibo was not even supposed to be here yet. He agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer from Toulouse when next summer’s transfer window opened. But then, things changed. Toulouse punished him by not allowing him to train with the first team nor play any matches. Barça reacted by speeding up the transfer and bringing him immediately.

Still, it was supposed to just be to give him time to train with the squad and adapt to the city, not play much. But things could change yet again.

According to Diario SPORT, Todibo has impressed Ernesto Valverde a lot. So much so, they say, that he’s already ahead of Jeison Murillo, who came on loan from Valencia this winter. That would put him in line to make his debut sooner than expected.

Todibo is eligible for La Liga and Copa del Rey, but not for the UEFA Champions League. It’s fair to say that the Frenchman getting ahead of Murillo, who is a La Liga veteran, would be a surprise. Murillo, ahead of Todibo, was registered for the Champions League just a few weeks ago. Murillo was also said to have been Valverde’s choice, with Todibo brought in afterwards by the club, not necessarily at the recommendation of the coach.
