The teenager has found game time hard to come by

Hector Fort is having to be patient at Barcelona this season but reportedly remains totally committed to the club.

The full-back has only made three starts this season under Hansi Flick, and played just 396 minutes in total, despite the German not being blessed with many back-up options at full-back.

Jules Kounde’s incredible record of playing practically every second available has been bad news for Fort, but those close to the defender say he’s not thinking about a move away.

“He’s very happy at the club; it’s the club of his life, and he knows how lucky he is to have been considered for the first team,” a source told Relevo. “It was a dream come true for him when he signed his contract last summer.”

“He’s aware that his position is in high demand and there’s strong competition, but he’s still preparing for when the opportunity arises, although of course, like any young lad with his qualities and having grown up at La Masia, he’d like to get as many minutes as possible to contribute to the team.”

Fort’s attitude is admirable but a problem may arise in the summer. One of Barca’s priorities is thought to be a full-back who can play on both flanks, and if a signing is made it’s hard to see where Fort fits in.

Yet Barca’s decision to hand him a contract until 2029 last summer shows the club’s faith in the defender and time is still very much on his side.

Fort is still just 18 years of age and if there’s no room at Barcelona this summer then a loan is always a possibility in order for him to gain some regular playing time before heading back for another chance at Barca.
