The Frenchman is happy with Diego Simeone’s side

Barcelona loanee Clement Lenglet has offered an update on his future and is enjoying himself at Atletico Madrid.

The French defender moved on loan in the summer transfer window and has gone on to feature regularly for Diego Simeone’s side.

According to Diario Sport, Lenglet wants to stay where he is and is hoping the two clubs can reach an agreement.

Lenglet spoke about his future after Thursday’s win over Rayo Vallecano and admits he’s loving life in the Spanish capital.

“I’m approaching this first season with Atlético with great excitement, eager to contribute to the team, and working every day like a professional in training and when it’s my turn to play,” he told reporters.

“Then we’ll see what happens because I have a two-year contract with Barcelona, and we haven’t talked about the future yet.”

Barcelona are thought to want 10 million euros for Lenglet, while Atletico are hoping to convince the Catalans to let him go for free which is unlikely to go down well in Catalunya.

Lenglet is contracted to Barcelona for the next two seasons but seems to have no future at the club, particularly as Hansi Flick has plenty of center-back options.

Barcelona will therefore be eager to offload him in the summer transfer window, and Lenglet is clearly hoping an agreement can be reached with Los Colchoneros.
