The forward has been quizzed on the potential transfer

Ferran Torres has admitted he would love to play alongside Nico Williams for Barcelona next season amid continued speculation about a move for the Spain star.

Barcelona are hoping to activate his release clause some time this week, although there’s been speculation the deal has stalled due to concerns over his registration.

Ferran has been quizzed on the possibility of playing alongside Williams at Camp Nou and made it clear he would welcome the Athletic forward to the club.

“I haven’t spoken to him. We met in Ibiza, but we prefer not to talk about it. All the top players want to come to the big teams, and Barça is one of them,” he said, via Mundo Deportivo.

“I don’t know what will happen, but I hope it’s for the best. We’ve already played together in the national team; I’d like to play with him, and we could form a good trio if everything goes well.”

Ferran has been back in training for a while ahead of the new season and also offered an update on his fitness after missing the end of last season after undergoing surgery to remove his appendix.

“Physically, I’m fine and mentally even better,” he added.

“I’m hoping and looking forward to joining the team as soon as possible and hoping for a great year like the last one. I see myself at Barcelona and I’m going to stay at Barcelona . I’m optimistic and I’m going to fight to earn a starting spot.”

Torres scored 19 goals last season in all competitions and Barcelona would love a repeat of that kind of form in the 2025-26 campaign.
