‘He always fights’
Barcelona sporting director Deco has been chatting with Romario in a new interview and has been full of praise for Raphinha.
The Brazilian enjoyed a simply brilliant campaign last time out and played a key role in Barcelona’s La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup victories.
Deco says it’s not just his ability that is impressive, but his character and willingness to help his team-mates.
“Raphinha gives you a lot with his character. First, because he always fights. Second, because he has a profile that helps Lamine, Pedri, and all the younger generation at Barça, Raphinha, like Iñigo or Lewandowski himself, does,” he said on the ’Face to Face’ program.
“Raphinha has a character that contributes a lot. That’s why we made him captain, and he feels like a leader. He had a fantastic season.”
Barcelona will be hoping for more of the season from Raphinha in the 2025-26 campaign, with Hansi Flick’s side due back for pre-season in a week’s time.
