Why PSG are set to pay more than €6m release clause to sign Dro Fernandez from Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain are being tipped to pay Barcelona more than €6 million to land midfielder Dro Fernandez in the January transfer window.

Fernandez is said to have already agreed to move to Luis Enrique’s side, in search of more game time, and the two clubs are now reportedly in negotiations.

The teenager has a release clause in his contract set at €6m but both Le Parisien and Diario AS say that PSG will pay more than that to land Dro.

The reason given by AS is that the Ligue 1 side want “to symbolize a return to the good relations” the two clubs now enjoy, following previous bad feeling which began after Neymar’s transfer to the French capital.

Yet Le Parisien point out that it also due to financial reasons, highlighting how tax is due when release clauses are paid (around 47% which would cost Dro another €3m), and that’s why it could just turn into a “classic transfer” instead.

Barcelona are now said to be asking for between €8-10m for Dro but an agreement is still yet to be reached.
