Barcelona’s transfer Plan B – Deco comes up with alternatives to Marcus Rashford and Joao Cancelo
Marcus Rashford and Joao Cancelo are both on loan at Barcelona and the hope is that an agreement can be reached for both players to continue past the end of the current campaign.
Yet it’s not as easy as all that. Barcelona seemingly don’t want to pay Rashford’s €30 million buy option, while his wage demands are also a problem.
The Catalans are also said to be hoping that they can land Cancelo on a free transfer, but it remains to be seen if that will happen as he still has a year left to run on his deal with Al-Hilal.
With all that in mind, Barcelona are looking at potential alternatives in case Rashford and Cancelo do not stay on at Camp Nou.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Jan Virgili and Andreas Schjelderup are the two forwards that Barcelona will target if Rashford ends up waving goodbye at the end of the campaign.
In defence, Barcelona will look at either Alejandro Grimaldo or Andrea Cambiaso to take over from Cancelo.
Grimaldo’s name has been mentioned regularly over recent seasons and is now seen as a “market opportunity” as he’s coming to the end of his contract, while Cambiaso is a versatile player who can feature on either flank.
