Inaki Pena on brink of leaving Barcelona in €3m transfer
Inaki Pena is reportedly on the brink of leaving Barcelona and is heading to Greece to sign for Panathinaikos.
The goalkeeper spent last season on loan at Elche and is now set to leave Barcelona permanently. The move has beeen accelerated as Pena was keen for his future to be resolved quickly, per Jijantes.
The 27-year-old is now set to join Greek side Panathinaikos for a fee of just less than €3 million.
Pena’s departure comes at a time when Barca are overbooked when it comes to goalkeepers. Joan Garcia is first choice with Wojciech Szczęsny set to continue as back-up next season.
Barcelona also have Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Diego Kochen, Ander Astralaga and Áron Yaakobishvili on the books and will need to make decisions on their futures this summer.
As for Pena, he could be the first of several exits from Barca before the start of the new season. Ansu Fati and Marc Casado are also expected to leave, while Ter Stegen has been linked with a move to Ajax.
