Would Australia’s World Cup star Lucas Herrington be a smart buy for Barcelona?
Barcelona have been credited with interest in Australia star Lucas Herrington throughout World Cup 2026, with the rumor mill excited about a potential summer transfer.
The Catalans are said to have been following the highly-rated teenager for some time and are thinking about going for the Colorado Rapids defender.
Herrington is just 18, is pretty tall (6 ft 4 in), strong in the air and has bags of potential. Since signing for Colorado Rapids he’s already come up against the likes of Lionel Messi, Thomas Müller and Son Heung-min in MLS.
The defender featured against Paraguay and Egypt at World Cup 2026 and received support from Zlatan Ibrahimovic after missing a penalty in the shoot-out as the Socceroos were dumped out in the last 32.
“Penalty is like lottery,” he said. “You score, you become a hero. You don’t score, sadly, you become zero. But I just want to reach out to Herrington. You’re 18 years old, you’re young. This is just the beginning of your career. You stepping up there, you show a lot of courage. Not everybody would do that. My friend, you’re the best. Don’t listen to the rest.”
Herrington is reportedly valued at around €20 million by his club side and certainly seems to a player that Barcelona have taken an in interest in.
