The full back returns after 17 days out following injury in the Gamper game which forced him to miss both Super Cups

Jordi Alba is the new name for the squad announced for Sunday’s game in San Mamés against Athletic Club which kicks off at 6.30pm CET. The full back has been given the all clear after picking up an injury in the Joan Gamper Trophy game 17 days ago, subsequently forcing him to miss both the European and Spanish Super Cups.

Also in the squad are B team players Juan Cámara and Gerard Gumbau, both of whom have trained with the first team this week. They will wear the shirt number 27 and 28 respectively. Furthermore, there is a change of shirt number for Sandro who will now wear number 19 after having worn 16 in pre-season.

The full squad list for the trip to Bilbao is: Ter Stegen, Bravo, Alves, Bartra, Mascherano, Vermaelen, Jordi Alba, Sergio, Rakitic, Iniesta, Rafinha, Sergi Roberto, Gumbau, Cámara, Munir, Sandro, Suárez and Messi.

Neymar returns to training

The other good news from Saturday’s session is that Neymar has returned to training. The Brazilian is now recovered from mumps and has started his road back to full fitness. Like his team mate Jordi Alba, the striker missed both Super Cups due to his illness.

Neymar, however, is not included in the squad for Sunday’s game and will remain behind in Barcelona with the injured Douglas and Adriano and the suspended Mathieu and Piqué.
