Lionel Messi named UEFA Super Cup MVP

It's so fitting that the best footballer of all time was chosen as the best player in one of the greatest football matches of all time.

Barcelona superstar striker Lionel Messi was voted the man of the match for his two-goal performance in his team's unforgettable 5-4 win over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup 2015 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The number 10 was also involved in the game-winning goal, which puts his stamp on three of the game's nine goals.

Tuesday's magical night was also special for the Argentine himself, who increased his record-setting scoring run against Sevilla, which is now at 24 goals. Messi is not too worried about his goals, however.

"We are delighted to start the season with this win, but it was tough. The most important thing was to win the Super Cup to start well"
