More than thirteen years after being relegated from the Spanish First Division, the team from the Canary Islands returns to Camp Nou for a La Liga game

With Las Palmas flying north from the Canary Islands to visit Camp Nou for the first time in 13 years, we take a quick peek at some if the most interesting tidbits surrounding Saturday's matchup:

On 5 September 1976, for the first time since the 1939 fall of the Second Spanish Republic, fans were able to tune in to a a match broadcast over the radio in Catalan. That day it was Joaquim Maria Puyal who called the game on Radio Barcelona. Curiously, Barça were playing Las Palmas and won 4–0.

The only Spanish Cup Final that Las Palmas ever appeared in was, precisely, versus FC Barcelona. It was the 1978 Copa del Rey, which Barça won 3–1, at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, on a Carles Rexach double and a goal from Juan Manuel Asensi.

The last time Barça and Las Palmas met in La Liga was 30 March 2002. None other than Barça's Luis Enrique scored for Barça's in a 1–1 draw.

Barca's biggest rout ever over Las Palmas was by a score of 8–0 way back in 1960. Eulogio Martínez scored four goals.

Barça have 99 goals over 31 home league matches all-time versus Las Palmas, winning 26, with three draws and just two defeats.

At 40 years young, current Las Palmas midfielder and Canary Island native Juan Carlos Valerón is the team's elder statesman and the face of the club. He made his debut at Camp Nou in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey during the 1996/97 season.

Nevertheless, Las Palmas' biggest goalscoring threat may just be ex-Barça B striker Sergio Araujo. The Argentine played for Barça B in the Second Division in 2012/13 when he scored 7 goals in 34 games.

FC Barcelona striker Sandro Ramírez was actually born in Las Palmas, and came to the Catalan club in the summer of 2009 from the UD Las Palmas under-14 team.
