UEFA has produced an ideal eleven out of the former footballers who are currently managers in the Champions League group phase, five of whom played for FC Barcelona: Luis Enrique (Barça), Pep Guardiola (Bayern Munich), Phillip Cocu (PSV Eindhoven), Laurent Blanc (PSG) and Julen Lopetegui (Porto).

The governing body of European football asked its followers on social media to have their say in the construction of the team by sending a tweet to @ChampionsLeague along with the hashtag #UCL.

Lopetegui in goal is protected by a back three of Pellegrini, Blanc and Hareide. Lucescu, Cocu, Guardiola and Jokanovic complete a five-man midfield while Sergei Rebrov joins current Barça boss Luis Enrique in attack.

Barça with five in the lineup

Luis Enrique played for the Catalans for eight seasons (1996-2004) while Guardiola had eleven seasons in the senior squad (1990-2001) after years in the academy. Cocu joined Barça from the club he currently manages, PSV, and played at the Camp Nou for six years (1998-2004). Lopetegui had a three-year spell (1994-1997) while Blanc spent just one campaign at the club (1996-1997).
