Jordi Alba on Champions League debut: "We want to keep winning"
Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba was the player selected by the club to appear before the media in the pregame press conference ahead of the Blaugrana's UEFA Champions League debut, on Wednesday against AS Roma. And the Treble-winning Spaniard wants to remain victorious this season. Here's a few highlights from his presser:
"It’s important to win the first game. We are the holders and we want to keep winning, even though we know it will be difficult at Roma.
"A club like Barça is always motivated. No one has ever done it, but neither should we obsess over it. We know it will be difficult to win everything again but we will try."
The win in the Calderón
"We are stronger. It was a difficult match against a champion side, we had players missing and we were coming off the back of international week. The team responded very well and put in an excellent performance."
Recent meeting with Roma
"The Gamper match is not a reference point, it has nothing to do with the Champions League game. They are playing at home and they will be stronger at home in front of their own fans."
Messi’s 100 games in the Champions League
"When Leo is on the field, everything changes in FC Barcelona’s favour. He is five steps above the rest."
The return of Gerard Piqué
"Piqué is a leader on and off the field."
