Clubs are now spending more on salaries for new players than transfer fees, official figures from FIFA have shown. The figures show that the total international transfer fees for last year was $4 billion (£2.6bn) but the value of the salaries associated with those transfers is $6bn (£3.93bn) over the term of the contracts.
