Celta Vigo vs Barcelona live stream: Lineups, Kickoff time, TV listings, how to watch Copa del Rey online
Can Barça kick off the new year on a high?
After a break for the festive period in Spain, Barcelona are back in action with the first leg of their Copa del Rey Round of 16 matchup against Celta Vigo.
And this one promises to be very, very tough.
Barça are unbeaten in La Liga and virtually guaranteed another title with the amazing win in El Clasico two weeks ago, but they had Andrés Iniesta, Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi all in top form that day. The three superstars will not play this one as Ernesto Valverde has decided to give them a rest, and they’ll only be called up to the second leg if the first one doesn’t go to plan.
So Valverde will have to rely on the rest of his squad to give him a win here, but with Paco Alcácer injured there isn’t a real source of goals in the team that will face Celta. Luckily for the manager (and for Barça fans) Ousmane Dembélé will make his much anticipated return from injury and will probably start up front as the main man.
It’ll be interesting to see how Dembélé, a tricky winger who loves to take people on, deals with the responsibility of scoring goals. Young Ousmane does have some help, though: Paulinho, the much maligned summer signing who has quickly turned into a fan favorite and loves to score goals. It’s unclear whether or not he’ll start, but we can be sure Valverde will count on him to get Barça a goal if they really need one.
This one will be fun to watch given that Celta are a highly entertaining team who got a 2-2 draw at Camp Nou last month, so we’ll probably see multiple goals and it’s really, really interesting to see how Barça play without their three superstars. So don’t miss this one.
