Bellerín Keen on Return, But Barça May Not Want Him
The Arsenal fullback is said to want out
Héctor Bellerín wants to leave Arsenal and join FC Barcelona, but he may not be able to, according to Mundo Deportivo. The right-back was a transfer target for the Blaugrana last season, but in the end, it was Nélson Semedo who was signed. The two reasons were that Semedo was cheaper and that some within the club hierarchy want to enforce a policy of not signing a player back who has since left. Bellerín left the Barcelona academy for London in 2011.
The report in MD says Bellerín is fed up with his coach, Arsène Wenger, and will push for that move next summer. However, Barcelona are leaning towards giving Semedo another year to progress. At this stage, Ernesto Valverde has gone with Sergi Roberto as his primary right-back. Another reason Bellerín might not arrive at the Camp Nou is that policy some are promoting of not taking back old players.
But if Roberto is moved to midfield, which he considers his natural position, that would open a spot in the rotation, at least, for a right-back. Could Bellerín be an option in that scenario?
