Celta 2-2 Barcelona: Player Ratings
Marc-Andre ter Stegen
Captained the side and was his usual brilliant self making several really great saves. Was a little unlucky with the second goal which looked like handball but still made such an important contribution to the result.
Rating: 8
Nelson Semedo
Barcelona looked wide open most of the night as the new-look defence flailed at times. Semedo still looks better going forwards than in defence and set up the second goal with a super cross.
Rating: 6
Yerry Mina
Made just his second start and this was a really tough game to throw him into. He did a pretty good job though as he looked strong and quick, but he might have done better for the equaliser.
Rating: 5
Thomas Vermaelen
Had looked good this season particularly when filling in for Samuel Umtiti but this was not a great display from the Belgian.
Rating: 4
Lucas Digne
Pretty unimpressive all night but somehow, and perhaps unwittingly, managed to deny Aspas what looked like the winner late on and for that he gets a few more points.
Rating: 5
Paulinho
He was unlucky not to score the opener with a header that hit the post and he played a big role in the second, but he’ll have to fight Paco for it.
Rating: 7
Andre Gomes
Gave the ball away which contributed to Celta’s equaliser and sadly that was his most memorable contribution. Will probably be great next season but it’s unlikely to be at Barcelona.
Rating: 4
Denis Suarez
Did lots of good things but also gave the ball away so cheaply at times, and Celta almost profited from his profligacy. Really frustrating.
Rating: 5
Ousmane Dembele
Still looks so raw at times but that’s to be expected. Scored his first La Liga goal with a fine finish and was involved in the second goal. Another really positive outing for the Frenchman.
Rating: 6.5
Paco Alcacer
Wasn’t involved too much but he’ll claim the second goal and he also had a hand in the first.
Rating: 6.5
Philippe Coutinho
Was one of Barca’s brighter performers but only lasted an hour before he was subbed off. Had a hand in the opening goal and looked a cut above at times but could not produce a telling moment.
Rating: 6
Lionel Messi
Arrived and a few minutes later Barcelona scored. His arrival visibly gave the team a lift before Sergi’s red card.
Rating: 6.5
Sergi Roberto
Came on and not long after was sent off for blatantly pulling back Iago Aspas. A crazy challenge that left his team a man down for the last 20 minutes and almost ended the unbeaten streak.
Rating: 3
Aleix Vidal

Ernesto Valverde
You want rotation? Have this, said Valverde ahead of the game (well, probably). After hardly any changes all season he made loads, it was all a bit odd. On the plus side he got a point at a really tough ground, rested the first team and the unbeaten record is still somehow intact. Got lucky but he won’t care.

The Team
Looking at the line-up they’d have taken a draw before kick-off and somehow they might even have won it but for Sergi Roberto’s moment of madness. That said, they probably should have lost and would have if Celta had taken any of their 126 chances.
