Valverde considering his Barca future - report

There’s been huge focus on Ernesto Valverde in the last few weeks with the Barcelona coach having come under huge criticism after the club’s exit from the Champions League.

The Barca boss saw his team lift their first silverware of the season on Saturday as they crushed Sevilla 5-0 to win the Copa del Rey.

The team now look set to do the double and could be crowned La Liga champions as early as next weekend.

Yet despite being on the brink of doing the double Valverde is reportedly considering leaving the club after just one season, according to AS.

The coach has become unhappy because the board leaked a report to Mundo Deportivo, prior to the Copa del Rey final, that he could be fired if Barca did not beat Sevilla.

The club’s directors reportedly remain furious at the quarter-final Champions League exit. They feel Valverde should have rotated his team far more given they have a healthy lead in La Liga.

The players are said to want Valverde to stay and are not too impressed with the board’s behaviour, indeed “senior dressing-room figures have made it plain to their coach that he has their backing.”

Valverde signed a two-year deal with the option of an extra year in May 2017, he but could be tempted to walk away after just 12 months.
