WATCH: Mascherano Has Already Scored His First Goal in China

The Argentine scored only one goal in his long Barcelona career

It took Javier Mascherano over 300 games to find the net for Barcelona, and it was via a penalty donated to him specifically so he wouldn’t leave Barça empty-handed. But it’s taken him only nine matches to score for Hebei China Fortune, his new team.

The defender and midfielder scored for the Catalans in a 7-1 thrashing of Osasuna, which also was his 319th match as a Barcelona player. The match took place on April 26, 2017, and his goal was Barcelona’s sixth at the Camp Nou that day.

But against Shandong Luneng in the China Cup, Masche scored from a rebound after the opposing goalkeeper saved a penalty. Despite his efforts, his team still lost 3-2. Papiss Cissé scored a brace for Shandong Luneng to put them into the next stage of the competition.
