Ivan Rakitic has said he’s expecting to sign a new and improved contract with Barcelona. He said: “It’s something that I’ve already spoken to the club about, before and during the World Cup. It’ll arrive soon but there’s no rush. I know that the club looks after its players well and I’m confident the ‘presi’ will call me soon.”

President Jokin Aperribay has offered an update: “The reform of Anoeta is very broad, but we are meeting the deadlines. No one said that it would be easy to arrive at a completion date of 15 September, but it will come. We are quietly busy.”
