Ter Stegen, Umtiti, Dembele and Cillessen in action
Find out how the Barcelona stars fared
There were plenty of Barcelona stars in action on Sunday night, as friendlies and UEFA Nations League games took place across Europe.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen got a rare start for Germany as they played a friendly against Peru.
However, he didn’t enjoy his greatest performance, as he was beaten at his near post by Luis AdvÃncula for the opening goal.
Germany did go on to win the game, through goals from Julian Brandt and Nico Schulz, but you get the feeling Ter Stegen may have missed a big chance to impress.
Ter Stegen’s back-up Jasper Cillessen was also in action, as he started the Netherlands’ Nations League game against France.
Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud got the goals for France, as they ran out 2-1 winners.
Mbappe tapped home at the far post for the opener, Giroud powered home a shot from close range late on which Cillessen got his hands to but couldn’t keep out.
Samuel Umtiti started the game for France and played the whole 90 minutes. Ousmane Dembele only managed a couple of minutes at the end, as he arrived as a really late substitute.
Dembele’s not seen much game time for France during the international break despite starting the season in pretty tasty form for Barcelona.
While it will be disappointing for the Frenchman, it does mean he should be pretty fresh for when Barcelona return to action on Saturday against Real Sociedad.
