Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to watch Copa Libertadores final together
Boca Juniors and River Plate will have some amazing guests
Florentino PĂ©rez is arranging two guests of the highest honor as Boca Juniors are set to face off against River Plate at the Santiago BernabĂ©u in Madrid. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are reportedly set to watch the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final side-by-side. This will be Ronaldo’s first visit to the stadium since leaving Real Madrid.
According to Diario AS, the gesture is intended to honor the pair for having dominated the last decade of world football. The Spanish FA, CONMEBOL, and PĂ©rez worked together to make it happen.
Messi is expected to travel to Madrid after facing Espanyol on Saturday in Barcelona. Meanwhile, Ronaldo will spend the weekend in Madrid after playing Inter Milan on Friday with his team, Juventus.
Boca and River finished the first leg of their final in a 2-2 draw at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The second leg was scheduled to take place in River’s stadium, El Monumental, but the match had to be abandoned after a set of River fans launched an attack on Boca’s team bus.
The match was first intended to continue, then delayed one day, and then delayed indefinitely, before a meeting between the club presidents and CONMEBOL officials resulted in the final being played at the Bernabéu.
