Moussa Wagué unable to play for Barcelona due to work permit issues
The fullback will be able to play with the senior team starting January
Moussa Wagué will be unable to play for FC Barcelona’s senior squad until January, according to RAC1 journalist Gerard Romero. The fullback currently plays for Barcelona B and had been rumored as a potential option to get minutes while Sergi Roberto was injured.
Wagué played the FIFA World Cup with Senegal, and some say he may be getting to become “too good” to play in the third tier of Spanish football. The Copa del Rey tie against Cultural Leonesa was mentioned as a possible time for him to make his debut for the senior team, but clearly, he will have to wait.
Starting January, Wagué could be selected by Ernesto Valverde to either sit on the bench or maybe even get minutes in the first team. But there may not be as many opportunities like the Cultural Leonesa match. Barça may draw a La Liga team in the next round of the cup, not to mention the injury situation potentially opened up a path for him.
Still, there is sure to be an opportunity for him at some point, whether this season or another, especially if he keeps impressing for Barcelona B.rst team.
