Barcelona in pole position to sign Matthijs de Ligt, but his agent could be a roadblock

The centerback is said to prefer Barcelona

FC Barcelona are in pole position to sign Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt, having already landed his teammate and compatriot Frenkie de Jong, according to Catalunya Ràdio.

According to their program Club de la Mitjanit, the De Ligt situation is quite similar to what De Jong’s situation was like in October. Barça are just one of the teams interested in the services of the young star, with Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich all interested. Reportedly, Barcelona have the upper hand because De Ligt wants to play alongside De Jong and have a good relationship with Ajax spanning decades. Rumor has it he will cost about 70 million euro.

Mundo Deportivo reports that one problem for the transfer is his agent, Mino Raiola. Today, Miguel Rico writes that Barça don’t like the superagent, who has a huge amount of power in the modern game, and one reason is because he is reportedly asking for a 10 million euro commission.
