Rivaldo criticises Coutinho for celebration against Man Utd

The Brazilian scored a great goal in the Champions League

Rivaldo has criticised Philippe Coutinho for his goal celebration against Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Brazilian scored a superb goal to make it 3-0 to Barcelona at the Camp Nou and celebrating by sticking his fingers in his ears, seen as a message to his critics.

However, Rivaldo was not at all impressed and explained why.

“It was not a nice gesture, as [Coutinho] scored a great goal, but it’s never nice to do something like that to the fans,” he said.

”The public criticizes the player because they know he has more to give.

”I don’t know what happened to him during the week, what he read in the newspapers or saw on television, but you have to keep working, thinking about the next game, and scoring goals.

”If he gets goals everything will change and he will be a player for the club.”

Rivaldo also went on to speak highly of Coutinho, said he’s capable of scoring “25 goals per season” and advised him to stay at Barcelona.
