Suarez: We ‘can’t be distracted for a second’ against Liverpool

The striker says his team need their best performance of the season

Luis Suarez says Barcelona can’t afford to be distracted for a second in their Champions League semi-final against Liverpool.

The striker is set to face his former team in Wednesday’s first leg and is well aware of the danger posed by the men from Anfield.

“In the Champions League you can’t be distracted for a second because you end up paying for that. It’s true that in the last game at home to Manchester United we had 5-10 really bad minutes and we almost paid for that.

“That shows you what the Champions League is and also what happened last season so we have to use that as experience. This team has too much experience to fall into that trap, we have to know what kind of game we are in and that if we want to get to the final and achieve our objectives then we cannot be distracted for a single minute in either of the two games.

“We will have to play the best we have this season, even better than the ones we have played, knowing how tough it will be against Liverpool. “

Suarez has been in great form this season and has 21 La Liga goals to his name, but he’s still yet to score in the Champions League this season.

The Uruguayan did think he’d finally got on the scoresheet against Manchester United, only to see his header come off Luke Shaw and go down as an own goal.
