Messi unhappy with ‘ugly’ Coutinho whistles against Liverpool
The Brazilian was subbed off against his former team
Lionel Messi was not too happy with the whistles for Philippe Coutinho during Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Coutinho started the game but attracted the crowd’s frustration before he was replaced in the second half, but Messi called for unity ahead of the second leg at Anfield.
“This is a time when we have to be more united than ever, both as players and fans,” he said.
”It is not the time to criticise anyone. The whistles against Coutinho are ugly. We have to be together.
”Four would’ve been better than three but it’s still a very good result. 3-0 is a very good result. The tie is not decided because we are going to a historical stadium and it will demand a lot, but we are very satisfied.”

Messi scored twice after Luis Suarez had broken the deadlock to secure a 3-0 first-leg win for Barcelona and leave them in a strong position to reach the final.
The two teams meet again at Anfield on Tuesday with the winners set to face Spurs or Ajax in the final.
