PSG and Man City rule out signing Griezmann

Thomas Tuchel and Pep Guardiola say they’re not interested

Antoine Griezmann’s future continues to make the headlines but PSG and Manchester City have both appeared to rule out signing the Atletico Madrid star this summer.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel was asked about the France international in his pre-match press conference and said it was “not realistic.”

“Griezmann could play for any team in the world. He would please any coach, but right now signing him is not realistic for PSG. We are looking for players who fit a certain profile, we need to be realistic.

“We need defensive players and we have to start with that. There are things to improve and we need to do that by creating a team with more reliable players who have the ability to play a lot of games for us at this level.”

And a similar question was then put to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola who is preparing to face Watford in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Pep told Barcelona they do not need to worry about the Citizens attempting to land the World Cup winner.

“All the reporters from Barcelona, don’t worry. We can’t afford him. City aren’t going to buy him.”

All of which seems to add further fuel to speculation that Griezmann is heading to Barcelona this summer.

Expect Ernesto Valverde to be asked about him in his press conference tomorrow, but do not expect the Barcelona boss to give anything away.
