Pedri to rest? Hansi Flick confirms plans to rotate against Osasuna

The midfielder could be one of the players rested on Saturday

Barcelona have no time to rest after their amazing win over Benfica in Champions League action in midweek and turn their focus to La Liga when they meet Osasuna at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium on Saturday night.

The Catalans played 70 minutes without 10 men in Lisbon and have another clash with Benfica and a monster league game away to Atlético Madrid next week, so it’s only natural to wonder if Hansi Flick will make changes to his side against an Osasuna team currently sitting in mid-table.

The coach was asked about the potential rotations in a press conference on Friday and confirmed there will be changes, and when asked specifically about Pedri he did not want to reveal whether or not the midfielder will be among those who are rested.

“We haven’t decided how many we will do, but we will do them. We have to have the best team on the pitch. We have done well so far and we will try to continue doing the same.

“We’ll see if he [Pedri] can rest. He’s very professional. He’s incredible. He recovers very well every day, he does what he has to do to recover. He trains at the highest level and it shows in the games. The way he trains is the way he plays. He gives us strength in his position. Tomorrow we’ll ask him and see how he is.”

Asking Pedri whether he wants to play is not a great idea if your plan is to rest Pedri because he will always wants to play, but it would be really, really good if he got a night off. He’s just too important and Barça are good enough to find a way to win one game without him, and he can be fresh for Benfica and Atleti.
