Filipe Luis waiting till Copa America concludes to decide future

The defender has been linked with a move to Barcelona

Filipe Luis won’t decide his future at Atletico Madrid till after the conclusion of the Copa America. The Brazilian has been linked with Barcelona, for the purpose of providing some stability to the left-back position. Jordi Albi needs to have someone to help out when he’s out with a knock or needs rest, the competition and skill in training couldn’t hurt either.

“On the interest of other clubs, obviously my contract ends. I have both the possibility of staying at Atletico and leaving,” he said.

”And the doors are open but, as I have said, I already talked with the club and I have already said that I will not speculate.

”I will not say yes to any club before finishing the Copa America, first out of respect for the national team and for my concentration.”

The Copa America journey for Brazil starts on Friday. However Brazil play, they’ll need more from Luis due to Neymar’s injury. We might get a nice display of what Luis can do on the wing offensively from the left-back position with their Neymar-sized gap.
