The club brought in €990 million last season

Barcelona have announced their financial results for the 2018-19 season and have recorded record revenue of €990 million ($1.1 billion).

While income is up so are the club’s expenses. The Spanish champions have revealed a pre-tax operating profit of €17m ($19m) which is down from last season’s €20m ($22m).

Here’s what the club have had to say about the results:

“The club has achieved its highest revenue ever and it’s important to highlight that the income is €30m more than the budgeted figure of €960m,” said a club statement.

”It is in line with the club’s strategic plan to generate an annual turnover of €1,000m by 2021.”

The club have had a busy season in the transfer market selling players such as Paulinho, Yerry Mina, Jasper Cillessen, Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes.

Meanwhile, Frenkie de Jong has arrived from Ajax, Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid and rumors abound about deals for Junior Firpo and Neymar.

There may also be more departures this summer to help balance the books. Ivan Rakitic, Philippe Coutinho, Malcom and Rafinha are all players who could depart.
