The deal would also include an option to buy at the end of the season

The Premier League transfer window ends on Thursday, which means the clock is ticking on Barcelona’s pursuit to send Philippe Coutinho back to England. But it appears as though the Catalans could be close to making it happen.

According to a report from The Times (behind a paywall but well sourced and trustworthy), Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer to Barça to sign the midfielder on loan for the 2019/20 season, and there will be an option to buy included in the contract to allow Spurs to sign the Brazilian on a permanent deal, although the report doesn’t say what the number is on that clause.

But they do say that Barça have asked for 25 million euros to complete the loan, a fee Spurs would be willing to pay. Other reports say the only problem would be Coutinho’s wages, but the Times’ story mentions that Tottenham are also comfortable with making Coutinho the club’s highest earner.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has already contacted the player to say he wants him in North London, and with the two clubs in serious talks about a deal it will be up to Coutinho himself to decide if he wants to join Tottenham or not.
