Valencia solve ‘internal crisis’, renew interest in Rafinha - report
After a few weeks of turmoil, the Copa del Rey winners are back in for the Barcelona midfielder
Once upon a time (which was actually just 10 days ago) Rafinha was set to leave Barcelona to join Valencia. Then Los Che went through a serious internal crisis: the owner did not want to sign Rafinha, but the manager and the sporting director wanted to, and the sporting director almost left because he didn’t feel like he had the owner’s backing to do what he wanted.
Now things seem to have settled down, and the Copa del Rey winners are once again looking to improve the squad with everyone on board. And according to Mundo Deportivo, that includes a fresh bid for Rafinha, whom manager Marcelino García sees as a crucial addition to the team.
Marcelino loves Rafinha’s versatility and believes he will be able to play in both wings, in the center of midfielder and both striker positions in Valencia’s 4-4-2 formation, and the ability to sign him at a reduced price with only a year left on his contract at Barça would make this a potential steal for Valencia.
With Philippe Coutinho reportedly on his way to Arsenal, a potential Rafinha exit would be a big step for Barça as they attempt to clear the logjam in midfield.
