The latest from the Barcelona boss

Ernesto Valverde spoke about Barcelona’s injury problems, Lionel Messi and Inter Milan on Tuesday in his Champions League pre-match press conference.

The Barcelona boss admitted he will have to wait and see if Messi is fit to play, although both the captain and Ousmane Dembele are in the squad for the game.

Here are the main points from his presser:

Valverde on Barca’s injuries

We have to wait for training. Ousmane has done very little and Leo some light training so we’ll see today if he can finish it. But I reiterate we will not take any risks. We can’t be happy about it. Dembélé has an injury similar to last season and we’ll see if we can control it. I don’t think Ansu, Jordi and Umtiti will be with us tomorrow

Valverde on Inter

Inter Milan have had a spectacular start to the season, winning all their Serie A games. They’re a solid team and it’s tough to score on them. Inter Milan have changed a lot, with new players and a new manager, and they’re playing a different scheme. So, last year’s game can only help us so much.

Valverde on Griezmann

It seems that I see him more on the left or in the middle. Carles Perez plays on the right too. I’ve seen Griezmann play much of his career on the left, I think he can do it well there and we have left-backs who get forward too.

Valverde on the Champions League

Once the seasons starts, we always have the obligation to win it. If you don’t win it, there are problems one way or another. We have a team that wants to win everything. The competitions are what they are. You don’t have to hold it against us if we want to win everything.
