Suarez says Mallorca backheel is one of his best ever goals

The striker struck a beauty on Saturday

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez was more than happy to talk about his brilliant backheeled goal against Real Mallorca on Saturday.

The Uruguayan struck Barca’s fourth of the night in some style just before half-time and explained what he was thinking before he hit the ball.

“I knew that I didn’t have much of an angle,” he said.

“The only option I had was to try and connect as strongly as possible with my heel to try and limit the goalkeeper’s chances of saving it. It’s one of the best goals of my career.”

Suarez’s goal means he has now scored against every La Liga team he has faced. The strike was his eighth La Liga goal in 13 appearances this season, only Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema have more in Spain’s top flight in 2019-20.
