Another juicy rumor for the last week of the window

Arsenal are reportedly expecting an approach from Barcelona this week for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is said to be their top January target.

According to the Telegraph, the Arsenal striker is a priority, although the Spanish champions “fear they will be priced out of a late deal.”

Arsenal could ask for £50 million for the Gabon international which is likely to end Barca’s interest pretty quickly.

The report reckons that Aubameyang “would be interested” in a move to the Camp Nou but does not have a personal agreement with Barca despite reports to the contrary.

Aubameyang only has 18 months left on his Arsenal contact and could leave in the summer if the Gunners don’t finish in the top four. The emergence of Gabriel Martinelli has also given Barca hope of doing a deal.

It’s worth noting that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was asked about Aubameyang last week and played down suggestions he could leave.

The striker also wrote in his programme notes ahead of Arsenal’s FA Cup win earlier in January that he loves Arsenal and “is committed to the club.”
