Ilaix Moriba tipped to replace Riqui Puig at Barca B

The arrival of Quique Setien at Barcelona has brought plenty of speculation that Riqui Puig is about to be promoted to the first team for the rest of the season.
The young midfielder will train with the first team all week and has a real chance of featuring this weekend against Granada as Arthur is still coming back from injury, Frenkie de Jong is suspended and Carles Alena now at Real Betis on loan.
Setien made it clear at his unveiling he’s willing to give the club’s young players a chance if he feels they deserve it, and the hope is that Puig may now make the breakthough into the first team.
If Puig does find himself promoted then that will of course affect Barca B. However, Francisco Javier GarcÃa Pimienta has already decided on his replacement and wants to call up Ilaix Moriba.
According to Sport, the 16-year-old will be the main beneficiary of Puig’s promotion and and will join Garcia Pimienta’s team on a regular basis.
Ilaix has flitted between Juvenil A and Barca B this season. GarcÃa Pimienta gave him his Barca B debut in September against SD Ejea, while he scored a great goal against Cornella in the team’s 5-1 win before Christmas.
