The Canadian midfielder returns to MLS

Ballou Tabla has made his move to Montreal Impact permanent following a stint with Barcelona B. The 20-year-old Canadian international, born in the Ivory Coast, spent more than two seasons as a Barcelona player, although he spent the past year and a half on loan. He has been on loan at the MLS club since August of last year, and before that, was on loan at Albacete in Spain.

“We are happy to have Ballou back with us following this transfer. The talent of this young Quebecer was never put into question. Now it’s up to him to do everything and bounce back,” said Impact sporting director Olivier Renard.

Tabla played 30 games for Barcelona’s reserves, and also played in the UEFA Youth League with Barcelona’s U19s. He started out at the Impact’s academy in 2012, making it into the MLS in 2017. His performances caught the eye of Barcelona scouts, who brought him to the B team in 2018.

However, he has failed to advance at the Catalan club and is looking to get his career back on track at his hometown club.
