Pep backs Setien, says his teams ‘always play very well’
The new Barcelona boss faces his first game on Sunday
Pep Guardiola has backed Barcelona’s appointment of Quique Setien and has wished the 61-year-old well ahead of his first game in charge of the club on Sunday.
Setien has replaced Ernesto Valverde in the dugout and will take charge of the team for the first time against Granada at the Camp Nou.
Guardiola was asked for his opinion on Setien during Friday’s pre-match press conference and seems pretty happy with the decision to bring him to the Camp Nou.
“He was here in Manchester and he and his staff were very friendly, it was a pleasure,” he said.
“I wish Quique Setién the best. His teams always play very well, especially when I have followed him more in his time at Betis.”

Guardiola met Setien and his staff in Manchester last August when they spent a day with the Premier League champions and got to check out the club’s facilities.
