Following a full week of training and rest after the win against Real Betis last week, Barcelona return to La Liga action at the Greatest Stadium on Earth against Getafe, a second versus third matchup that is the absolute best game in Spanish football this weekend.

We all thought Getafe had shocked us last season with an amazing campaign and a place in the Europa League, but this season they’ve proved they’re for real: the Madrid-based side are once again incredibly tough to beat and brutally efficient on the counter, and the third-best away team in La Liga is currently ahead of Atlético Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia and Real Sociedad and has real chances to go to the Champions League.

Squad continuity along with some smart business in the summer makes this Barça’s toughest game of the season so far, certainly among those played at Camp Nou. Getafe are really, really good and facing them still early in the Quique Setién Era isn’t exactly ideal when you consider Barça’s defensive issues against the most brutal counter attack in the country right now.

A win in this one is not to be taken for granted: Barça must play a really great game to beat Getafe, and if they do this will serve as a strong measuring stick for Setién’s early work. Win this one playing well and be really encouraged of what’s ahead; concede a few goals on the counter and struggle against a solid defense and things won’t look good with El Clásico so close.

Girl, this is going to be good.

POSSIBLE LINEUPS

Barcelona (4-3-3): Ter Stegen; Semedo, Piqué, Umtiti, Alba; Vidal, Busquets, De Jong; Messi, Griezmann, Ansu Fati

Getafe (4-4-2): Soria; Nyom, Etxeita, Djené, Olivera; Jason, Maksimovic, Arambarri, Cucurella; Mata, Molina

PREDICTION

I’m really, really worried about Getafe’s counter attack, but I trust Quique to put together a good plan and the attacking players to not give cheap balls away and play a solid overall game: 2-0 Barça.
