Barca would not have pulled off Remontada with VAR - Emery
PSG wuz robbed, apparently
Former Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery reckons Barcelona would have not have managed to pull off their famous Champions League Remontada if VAR had existed at the time.
PSG won the first leg 4-0 but were hammered 6-1 at the Camp Nou in the last 16 in 2017 which saw Barcelona progress 6-5 on aggregate and move into the quarter-finals of the competition.
Yet Emery still seems to think his team were hard done by and that refereeing mistakes were to blame for his team’s thrashing.
“I won Ligue 1, and four domestic cups, as well as two Trophee des Champions titles.
“Our ultimate objective was the Champions League, and in the first year (2016-17), against Barcelona in the round of 16, we produced a very impressive first leg performance.
”In the second leg, we were eliminated because VAR did not yet exist. We were clearly eliminated by refereeing decisions.”

All of which gives us a rather fine excuse to watch highlights from the match yet again.
Thanks Unai Emery!
