The former goalkeeper has spoken about his illness

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Rustu Reçber has thanked the club for their support following his recent hospitalisation for coronavirus.

Isil Recber, Rustu’s wife, said he had spent “a difficult 11 days” in hospital before being discharged and sent home to continue his recovery.

Recber has now spoken about his illness and how he feels support from Barcelona helped him.

“The support from the club during and after the illness was a major boost. Both Carlos Naval and Chemi Teres passed on the best wishes from the president and all at the club.

“It’s at these times that the small details are key and this will never be forgotten.

“I will never forget Barça’s support for me during this time when I could have died at the hands of the coronavirus.”
