Lucho: Football without fans is sadder than dancing with your sister
The former Barcelona boss didn’t enjoy watching the Bundesliga
Former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique can always be relied upon to come up with a great quote or two and he’s come out with a cracker when asked for his thoughts on football being played without fans.
The coronavirus pandemic has brought football to a halt but leagues are planning to return with games set to be held in empty stadiums and behind closed doors.
The Bundesliga was the first of Europe’s major leagues to restart at the weekend and Enrique admitted he didn’t particularly enjoy watching Germany’s top flight.
“Playing without fans is sadder than dancing with your sister,” Luis Enrique he said. “I saw some games from Germany at the weekend and it’s terrible.
“You can hear everything — all the insults — and you lose the intimacy of the better moments. But we have to remember that this is a business that generates a lot of money.
“While it’s a long way from playing with fans, I understand it can serve as a way of helping people deal with the lockdown. But football in these circumstances is odd.”

Lucho also added that he would not be worried about returning to action if he was still a player and was keen to get back to work. La Liga is expected to return in June with clubs in Spain now training in groups.
