The Serie A club have responded to recent rumors

Napoli have reacted strongly to rumors they are interested in signing Barcelona defender Marc Cucurella, currently on loan at Getafe.

Angel Torres, president of Getafe, had told Radio Marca he’s taking calls every few days from Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis about Cucurella.

Yet that does not appear to be how Napoli see the current situation. They have responded to the speculation with a statement on Twitter:

“On the subject of fake news (we will never tire of fighting the manipulation of information), we read that Napoli would be strongly interested in Cucurella and that even president De Laurentiis would call the president of Getafe ‘every three days’.

“It’s a hoax, fake news. De Laurentiis does not even know who the president of Getafe is and has never spoken with his collaborators about this Cucurella.”

Cucurella has been a regular for Jose Bordalas’ side who are in contention to secure a Champions League place when La Liga resumes and remain in the Europa League.

There have been reports the club will activate their purchase option to land Cucurella permanently, although they may face competition for the 21-year-old’s signature.
