The right-back now looks set to stay

Barcelona reportedly want to offer right-back Nelson Semedo a new contract until 2025 and are in talks with his agent Jorge Mendes about an extension.

Mundo Deportivo reckon that despite plenty of speculation about his future this year he looks set to stay at the club after all.

Semedo’s current deal expires in 2022 but Barca are hoping to extend it until 2025, give him a pay rise and increase his release clause which is set at just €100 million.

The Portugal international is happy to stay at the Camp Nou and a renewal could even be “imminent,” according to the report.

The news is a big change from earlier in the year when it looked as though Semedo was on his way out of the club.

There have been reports he could be used in a deal to bring in Neymar or Lautaro Martinez, and there were also rumors about a swap deal involving Joao Cancelo.

Yet the coronavirus pandemic seems to have really shaken up Barca’s transfer plans which looks like being good news for Semedo.
